How does Backpack keep my communications safe?

Your connection to Backpack is encrypted with 256-bit encryption. The connection uses TLS 1.0. The connection is encrypted using AES_256_CBC, with SHA1 for message authentication and RSA as the key exchange mechanism.

SSL is an acronym for “Secure Socket Layer”, a security protocol that provides communications privacy over the Internet. The protocol allows Backpack to securely communicate in a way that is designed to prevent eavesdropping, tampering, or communications forgery. It is the same technology used by banks and e-commerce companies such as Amazon.com to keep your information safe and secure during transactions. In Backpack’s case, SSL keeps your communications absolutely secure (Backpack’s normal password protection keeps your information private, but SSL keeps it private and secure).

Every Backpack account has SSL on all connections.
